Nuclear power plant equipment upgrade program:

Reactor Trip System

Reactor Trip System is used as a technical base while designing new and existing Reactor Trip Systems of WWER type reactors at nuclear power plants.

The Reactor Trip System is developed based on the digital I&C RadICS platform which utilizes field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology.

Reactor Trip System performs the following functions:

  • maintains continuous automatic monitoring of current values of reactor process parameters;
  • generates emergency and warning protection signals when the monitored parameters go beyond the established limit values;
  • actuates appropriate commands to the Rod Control Subsystem and other I&C systems of a power unit;
  • if necessary, automatically shuts down the reactor, generating emergency or warning protection commands.

The Reactor Trip System implements the requirements of IEC and IAEA standards for safety-related systems.
