Radiy wins project for I&C modernization of Reactor Protection Systems at Kozluduy NPP, Bulgaria

March 29, 2023 - RPC Radiy, Radics LLC and Aden Group were awarded a Contract as a joint winner of the tender for the modernization of Reactor Protection Systems (RPS) at Power Units 5 and 6 of  Kozloduy NPP, Bulgaria. The Contract procurement includes design, manufacture, supply and commissioning of Reactor Trip System, Automatic Power Regulation System, and Automatic Discharge and Power Limitation System for VVER-1000. Once installed, Radiy’s  advanced licensed equipment will ensure operation of Kozloduy power units in compliance with all international regulatory documents on nuclear and radiation safety.

This is not the first work of Radiy for Kozloduy NPP. During 2007-2010, Radiy and Kozloduy engineers successfully replaced safety I&C systems at Power Units 5 and 6. Since that time, the installed equipment has been demonstrating excellent performance meeting the most rigid international safety and reliability requirements.

For this modernization project Radiy and Radics teamed up with a Bulgarian engineering company Aden Group, which has been an active player on the energy market of Bulgaria by implementing modernization projects and expanding the service-time of Kozloduy power units. The high quality of Aden Group services is ensured by certified quality management system that meets the requirements of BDS EN ISO 9001:2015.

Kozloduy NPP is the only active nuclear power plant in Bulgaria and is the largest in the region. Power Units 5 and 6 of VVER 1000 were built in 1987 and 1991, respectively.

Energy safety and security is an important factor both for Ukraine and Bulgaria. No doubt, implementation of such international projects strengthen European energy generation stability and contribute to its independence.
