16.08.2019On August 14, 2019, Mykola Steinberg had a meeting with employees of PC “RPC Radiy”. Mykola Steinberg is a professional with abundant experience in the nuclear industry including sensitive and critical situations related to technological disaster management.
Mykola Steinberg was born on June 24, 1947, in Kirovohrad, Ukraine. In 1986, after the nuclear accident, he worked as a Chief Engineer at Chernobyl NPP. He held the position of Deputy Chairman of the USSR Inspectorate for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, and since 1991 – Chairman of the State Committee of Ukraine on Nuclear and Radiation Safety. Later on, he performed duties of a Vice President, Chief Executive Officer of NNEGC “Energoatom”. Since 2002, Mykola Steinberg had been the Deputy Secretary, and later on he became the Deputy Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine.
At the present time, Mykola Steinberg conducts engineering and consulting business, participates in professional communities as an expert with great experience. Moreover, he is currently holding a position of Chairman of the Reactor Safety Council reporting to the Chairman of the State Committee of Ukraine on Nuclear Regulation. Working with IAEA, EBRR, National Commission on Radiological Protection, and membership in the TEPCO International expert team on accident management at Fukushima NPP gives Nikolay Steinberg the full right to analyze the real state of the world nuclear field in general and Ukraine, in particular.
During the meeting with Mr. Steinberg, participants discussed many questions, issues, and perspectives of the modern Ukrainian nuclear industry. The meeting was carried out in the form of a live discussion and active exchange of opinions.
