Radics introduced its products and services at WNE-2021
03.12.2021Equipment acceptance testing for Rivne Nuclear Power Plant
23.12.2021RPC Radiy has recently completed a reverse engineering project for the Canadian company Ontario Power Generation Inc (hereinafter - OPG). Ontario Power Generation Inc. is a world-known state corporation that produces approximately half of the electricity in Ontario, Canada.
The joint Ukrainian-Canadian project provided for the replacement of the watch dog timer, a key component that ensures the Digital Control Computers perform correctly, and was performed in two stages.
The first stage was the design and development of prototypes, verification that all design requirements are satisfied and validation activities at the RPC Radiy site. After successful confirmation of prototype functionality in Canada on an OPG test system, RPC Radiy began Stage 2 - the development and manufacture of pre-production units, which included passing all qualification tests, functional tests, factory acceptance and site acceptance tests as required by the Contract.
All work was performed in compliance with existing international rules and standards for nuclear and radiation safety. In addition, the project items were designed and manufactured to comply with the requirements of the Canadian nuclear standard N299 (Quality assurance program requirements for the supply of items and services for nuclear power plants).
The successful completion of this project was very important as it confirmed effective cooperation between Radiy and OPG teams which allows the Customer (OPG) to consider the Vendor ( Radiy) to produce future nuclear digital components on safety related systems.
Modernization of nuclear power facilities using reverse engineering solves the problem of replacing obsolete parts, no longer available in the market, to support safe and reliable extended plant life operation.
