Future of Nuclear Power Industry in Ukraine: Challenges and Prospects until 2030
24.09.2025by specialists from Radiy’s electrical equipment department was finalized. The purpose of these tests was to evaluate effectiveness and feasibility of changes proposed for inclusion in the “Actuators Control Units. Technical Specifications” (TS). The FAT was conducted at Radiy’s testing grounds. The acceptance committee included Radiy specialists, representatives of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the South-Ukrainian NPP, and the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS).
The test results are positive and are set out in the ACU type test reports, confirming the following:
- All ACUs comply with the requirements of the test program, technical specifications, design documentation, requirements of regulatory documents (RD) on nuclear and radiation safety, and other RDs in Ukraine.
- The ACUs’ technical level and quality of manufacturing meet the criteria specified in the technical standards applicable in Ukraine.
- The documentation has been developed in full, and its quality meets all requirements.
- The feasibility of changes proposed for inclusion in the technical specifications has been confirmed by test reports.
Why ACUs are important for Ukrainian NPPs?
The ACU functions are designed to ensure reliable control of the power unit automation systems, which directly affects the safety and stability of nuclear power plant operation. They play key role in the process control chain, increase response speed, and minimize risks of equipment failure.
ACUs are required for:
- Ensuring nuclear and radiation safety through precision and reliability of operation.
- Ensuring continuity of electricity generation through high quality and adaptability to modern requirements.
- Reducing dependence on imported technologies, which contributes to the development of our own industrial and scientific and technical base.
- Supporting the modernization of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, ensuring their compliance with international safety standards.
Thus, the positive results of the FAT confirmed readiness of Radiy’s Actuators Control Units for widespread use at Ukrainian nuclear power plants, which is an important step in strengthening the country’s energy independence and security.
