Radiy Has Confirmed Readiness of Actuators Control Units 7-1 for Operation at Rivne NPP
03.10.2025Some industries have a necessity to monitor seismic activity. Currently, Ukraine has adopted up-to-date building codes that are divided into three structure categories: SS1 (CC1), SS2 (CC2), and SS3 (CC3), where SS1 covers minor consequences, SS2 covers moderate consequences, and SS3 is for significant consequences, which determine the level of potential danger to human life and infrastructure. The highest level applies to facilities with large crowds of people, critical infrastructure or industry.
Seismic sensors and detectors are installed to detect hazards such as earthquakes in order to ensure the safety of facilities, optimize resources and monitor the environment.
Radiy’s seismic sensors (SS-1) are universal devices that register vibrations of the earth's surface or structures, ensuring technological and environmental safety. They are capable of detecting even the slightest vibrations of the ground or structures, allowing for a timely response to potential risks.
The application of SS-1 covers various areas where safety, control and analysis of seismic or vibration processes are important:
- Seismology and earthquake prediction. Measurement of natural seismic activity, creation of risk zone maps, warnings of approaching dangerous vibrations.
- Construction and infrastructure. Vibration control of buildings, bridges, dams, checking the stability of foundations and structures, monitoring in earthquake-prone areas.
- Mining industry. Detection of underground rock movements, prevention of collapses in mines and quarries.
- Oil and gas industry. Seismic exploration for mineral resources, monitoring of drilling rigs and pipelines.
- Energy. Safety of nuclear and hydroelectric power plants, monitoring vibrations in turbines, generators and other equipment.
Radiy’s seismic sensors are an essential tool in modern industry for the safety, efficiency and reliability of production processes. The company has been manufacturing SS-1 for over 15 years, and currently more than 100 of our sensors are operating successfully at all nuclear power plants in Ukraine. This is an extremely high indicator of Radiy’s quality!
