I&C system of IEA-R1 Research Reactor,

IPEN-CNEN institute located in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Radiy manufactured and supplied I&C equipment for the IEA-R1 Research Reactor between 2015 and 2016.

The open pool reactor was built by Babcock & Wilcox company and put into operation in 1957.

The objective of the IPEN project was the modernization of the Control Console.

Safety Systems Control Console (SSCC-1) includes the following systems:

  • neutron flux monitoring systems;
  • rod control systems;
  • reactor trip systems;
  • control safety systems.

The Radiy I&C system is based on the RadICS platform and the project demonstrated the high reliability, functionality, and security of the Safety Systems Control Console. System qualification included seismic and climatic tests and acceptance tests, which were carried out at Radiy facilities in the presence of the customer, confirmed the compliance of the equipment to technical requirements.
